Tourney Raises Over $8,000 for Officer PDF Print E-mail

A fundraiser over the weekend raises over $8,000 for a Camdenton Police officer.

Officer Floyd Sanders, a four-year veteran of the city force, was recently diagnosed with inoperable stage four pancreatic cancer.

The community held a single elimination basketball tournament Saturday afternoon at the Camdenton Middle School, and between silent auction items, bribes for the scorekeepers, and concessions, managed to raise $8,050.

The "Young Guns" of the Missouri State Highway Patrol won the tournament.  Camdenton Police Officer Melissa Stradt says Officer Sanders and his family are very appreciative.

“They were shocked and they were almost speechless," Stradt said. "The support they’re receiving from the community, there just aren’t words to express their gratitude for everyone that maybe bought an item or maybe they’ve donated an item to the bank. There’s just no word for their gratitude towards the community.”

Other teams included the Camden County Sheriff’s Department, the Camdenton Police and Fire Departments, "The City Chicks," women from the city of Camdenton and the Camdenton Police Department, the Mid-County Fire Protection District, the Osage Beach Fire Protection District, Osage Beach Police, Linn Creek Police, and "The Eagles," a team of local citizens.
