Fire District Will Make Budget Cuts PDF Print E-mail

Due to slow revenues, the Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District is going to make some cuts.

The board of the district says that permit fees in its building code division will top out at about $25,000, down from the $100,000 figure that the permit fees have brought in in the past.  With that decrease and others expected, the district has to cut about $100,000 from its budget.

Plans are to cut the district training budget by about 30%.  The district will save money by eliminating travel expenses for training.  The board is also looking at a wage freeze, and cuts to office supplies, uniforms, and medical supplies.

Several areas will be cut by 20 to 25% to make up for the predicted shortfall.
