Thirty-five year old Gregory Harrison was in federal court yesterday, pleading guilty to his role in a conspiriacy to pass counterfeit money in the Springfield area. According to the May 14th federal indictment, Harrison manufactured about eighteen hundred dollars in money and primarily gave it to other people to distribute between October 19th and November 9th of 2008. People who got the money passed the bills at fast food restaurants where they bought items off the dollar menus in order to get change. The real currency was then apparently used to by illegal drugs. Harrison was arrested November 8th of 2008 after he tried to pass fake money at a Springfield business. Officers found Harrison in a motel room with an Epson printer, laptop computer and counterfeit five, ten, and twenty dollar bills. Harrison will receive his sentence after a presentence investigation is completed by the United States Probation Office. |
