Macks Creek voters will have to make a choice election day about their water infrastructure. Public Water Supply District Number 1 is asking to pass a $1.5 million dollar bond issue that would allow the district to upgrade its 36 year old water supply system. The goal is to qualify for American Recovery and Reinvestment Act money and have the entire amount re-imbursed. The water district is prepared to pay for 75% of the improvements if the ARRA money is not available. The $1.5 million dollars in bond money would be used to increase delivery pipe sizes as required by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. Hydrants would then be useable due to not as much mud and sediment being pulled through the larger pipes. The money would also be used to install a new well in the Branch area of the system, raise the height of the Elliot water tower, and secure the perimeter around the tower to meet federal standards. The vote will happen November 3rd. |
