A fifteen-year-old will go for a certification hearing this week after Cole County juvenile authorities ask to charge the teen with first degree murder. On Friday the fifteen year old led police to the body of nine-year-old Elizabeth Olten in the woods near her home. The Cole County nine year old went missing Wednesday night after she left a friends house a little after six in the evening. Cole County juvenile authorities have asked for the certification hearing to determine if the fifteen-year-old will be tried as an adult or as a child. Authorities got a break in the case on Friday when a handwritten note directed them to the fifteen-year-old who then took them to the body of the young girl. Police have said the two were acquaintances but have not given any details about the teen's identity, including whether it is a male or female. An autopsy was performed Saturday on Elizabeth to determine her cause of death. |
