An ongoing problem for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources is being handed over to the Missouri Attorney General.

The MoDNR says that Van's Mill Creek off of Mill Creek Loop between Laurie and Gravois Mills is violating Missouri's Clean Water laws and regulations.

A release from the MoDNR names the homeowners' association and Van's Holding Company as defendants. On the property there are septic tanks and a filter with an ultraviolet unit.  Effulent travels from that system directly to the lake.

MoDNR says in September during the governor's review, an investigation found that Van's Mill Creek failed to submit discharge monitoring reports.  MoDNR also says that the facility's operating permit expired November 5th of last year and an organization has not been named since as the legally responsible party.

The state department has done two inspections on the facility since March. They add that in situations where the responsible party is unwilling or unable to cooperate to bring the facility into compliance, the department turns those cases over to Attorney General Chris Koster.
