A flue is being blamed for a fire Friday in the Gravois Fire Protection District.

At about one o’clock in the afternoon the district was called to the 31000 block of Cuptree drive off of Highway 135.   Gravois Fire Chief Ed Hancock says a neighbor called after seeing smoke coming from the back of a trailer.

“It was a 12’-wide mobile home," Hancock said, "had a room addition on the front. Small room addition on the back where the wood stove was held. And an older 8’-wide attached to the back side of it."

"The fire started, what appears to be a flue fire, in the stove room, and extended to the exterior wall and roof of that approximately 8’ by 8’ addition.”

Hancock says the crews were able to knock the fire down about fifteen minutes after arriving on scene.  The damage was limited to the back addition and the walls of the main structure. The homeowners were not at home when the fire started.

Sunrise Beach assisted Gravois at the scene.
