As the holiday party season approaches the city of Osage Beach is going to crack down on those that party too much and drive.

The city police received a grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation's Highway Safety Division for increased DWI enforcement.

Police Sergeant Arlyne Page says there is a goal.

"The goal is to remind people that they should not drink and drive or if they do they may have to suffer the consequences,” she said.

Those consequences include license suspension for your first conviction. A fine, license revocation, and an interlock device for your second conviction. Jail time, larger fines, and a license denial for up to ten years for your third conviction.

The increased enforcement effort in osage beach will start Monday, December 7th, and last until the 13th.  Page reminds residents that DWI remains one of the top causes of fatal car crashes in missouri, with 262 people killed in 2008, over 1,100 seriously injured and almost 3,400 receiving minor injuries in crashes involving alcohol.
