The Osage Beach board of aldermen are a step closer to taking the plans for the High Pointe Shopping Center Tax Increment Financing project off the table.
Last night the board had the first reading of an ordinance to repeal the TIF plan for the project.
As City Attorney Ed Rucker explained during the meeting, this does not kill the project.
“As you know there is a technicality involved when a project ordinance is introduced, that a project ordinance is introduced in a timely manner, and remains as an active item before this body, but it is not part of your agenda,” Rucker said. “It would take an affirmative vote of the body to recall that to the agenda.”
The city has come to an impasse with the developer on reimbursible cost amounts, timeframes, and bonding. Rucker says negotiations between the city’s TIF lawyers and representatives of the Raul Walters Development Group are ongoing.
“I can tell you that they have had daily, or multiple daily discussions with council. Both with Mr. Bushek and Mr. Grice, and we’ll either be pregnant with a deal or not have a deal by the time you meet next time.”
The next time the city meets is December 15th.
The board was also told last night by Osage Beach Building Inspector Ron White that there are dangerous conditions that exist inside the building. Whether or not the city will push for condemnation was not discussed. |
